Lil Dee releases video for "N.O. Girl"

Lil Dee released this late video from the Spokesman Vol. 1 just days before the release of Vol. 2. Shot during Mardi Gras, you can catch some of the flavor of New Orleans in the song.

An Inspiring Video from Gangsta Cash & Magnolia Chop

I wasn't sure what to expect from this video at first. I was guessing it was just another hood anthem, but it surprised me. This track does a good job of encouraging the youth of New Orleans to not get caught up in the street life, as well as pay tribute to some of New Orleans' fallen and incarcerated legends.. It doesn’t feel forced, and the message is right on point. It is even a little emotional to watch the main character’s friends “leave the porch”, when you realize that symbolizes their death in the streets.

Brand New K Gates Music!

New Orleans' Savior recently released his debut album, after many years of hustling and releasing mixtapes. You may recognize him from BET's show "Ultimate Hustler". Gates is by far one of New Orleans best, and most well rounded MC's. He picks great beats, and drops serious knowledge on them. Download this song or remain ignorant!

I am really glad that Gates finally released an album, and I look forward to more from him.

Dizzy Ft. DJ Drama & Kidd Kidd

Dizzy (Raw D.I. ) and Kidd Kidd ( Nutt Da Kidd) were both formerly in Lil Wayne's old group, Sqad Up, back in the day. The same group that current YM alum Gudda Gudda was a part of.

But if ya'll have been reading this blog, then you already know that. Every now and then I hear a new track from Dizzy, but I am not as big of a fan of him as I was back in the Sqad Up days. This song sounds like most of his other tracks, but I guess I should "quit hatin"...or not. Switch it up Dizzy!!

Electronic Takeover BBQ and Christoph Andersson Music!

Yoo, so for around a year now, Electronic Takeove (bka Electronic TKVR) has been throwing dance parties etc at Le Maison on Frenchmen St. and more recently at The Saint, Ampersand, and soon to be at Voodoo fest. Basically, if you like electronic music, lazers, lights, and rolling your face off, then these dudes and dudettes have been killing it!

They are having a BBQ soon, and you are welcome to join.

Also, some of New Orleans best DJs are coming out of Loyola University and are heavily featured on Electronic Takeover. DJs like Christoph Andersson, Swiss Chris, and DS@STR. I may be getting some of these facts wrong, but that is because I don't pay close attention. Sorry

Nesby Phips Remixes Miles Davis with Ski Beatz

Honestly, I love Nesby. I have not even begun to try to describe his style, or why I like it. Maybe because he is New Orleans...plus some more. Aka, he has drive...

And who remixes Miles Davis anyway!?! I don't think Rap cats thought they could make chill music, but by this time in my life, I want to here some Hip Hop-Jazz fusion
