Tornado on the Bayou!

4 Days ago. Burthe St. and Fern St. It sure went down and this is what it looks like. I can say I was very fortunate, because my Apartment escaped unscathed but one block up...It (trees, houses, powerlines) went down! I hear one person was killed, I wish I knew more info since it happened right in my neighborhood, but when the storm came through that night I was in bed, and being from the north Ive never been through a tornado, so when it came by sounding like a freight train going through my apartment, I didnt know what to think. After it was passed it was very quiet with no rain and everything seemed fine. I didnt know any better until i turned the corner of my block. My condolences to the people.

The Mardi Gras Mambo!

MAAAARRRDI GRAAASSS!! Yeah. And this is what some of it looks like. To tell the truth this is my first Mardi Gras and so i dont really know what im doing. If Sam is going to a parade then i go along. I need to start going out by myself. Especially now that I have all of this free, non working, time on my hands.

Sam

Some people on mopeds with capes made of blue tarp reading "FEMA"...the never ending joke.

Mr. Mem Shannon came to party!

This Friday my dad took me down on Tchoupatolis to a place called Tipitinas. Pretty well know venue for blues/rock/jazz/funk etc. I had read in the Gambit that a guy named Mem Shannon and his band The Membership was having a concert as well as live recording, low and behold Dad had won some tickets on WWOZ so he took me and we be VIP. Ha , so long short, it was really good music (seems as tho any live music is, down here) but for some reason not many people showed up and stayed. Im not sure why because Tipitina's seems to attract large crowds. Either way Mem was a great guitar player and excellent songwriter. His Sax section blew their hearts out and his drummer was on fire.Of course his keyboardist was the man and his bass player put down a phat beat. Some nice descriptive words for you there...now you piece it together.

Dad With Professor Longhair. Helped put Tip's on the map so his bust is right there as you walk in.

Me sitting out in the middle ground on Tchoup and Napoleon. I think its Napoleon.

Excellent. Yall should check this man out. Buy the live recording and listen for me.

A Lil Somthin somthin

Here is a lil sample of my recent work. To start are the John Dresser Edition Lucky Adidas. Sort of a long name but long short, the picture is of professional paintballer John Dresser.

Pair of Timberlands with New Orleans rapper B.G. on them. This side is from his second CD Chopper City.

Pair of Timberlands inspired by a concert poster and my lifelong love of cigarettes....eventhough i dont smoke.

I guess they arent really recent because they were my first ever customs. but here they are.
Pair of Reeboks. I purchased these from a Reebok outlet but i have no idea what kind they are....needless to say they arent very popular. Originally they were Navy/ Yellow/ Silver. Now they are Navy/White/Pearl Blue

This is still a lil bit from my trip to D.C. The tan building is the American Indian Museum....in which i almost cried. hmmm

Our nations Capital Building, which i did not even get near! Seems like i should have atleast gone inside for a second since it is part of this giant entity that governs my life in this country. I guess I thought that was a weighty subject or something.

This is a mask from the museum. Its a bear and is from a northeastern tribe. I have always loved their style of art, totem poles and the like, however i do not recollect their name.

At Maryland Aero Porte. Being gangster with Deborah and getting ready to hijack a seat on the plane!

New Orleans 2 D.C.

So this Christmas I decided, heck why not take the train home to Michigan! Then I decided, heck why dont i stop over in Washington D.C. ! I mean what could be bad about a 25 hour train ride through the backwoods of America? Needless to say I cut my finger shaving, almost missed my taxy, overdrew my bank account, had to sleep sitting in my damn seat with lights in my eyes.....ugh man 25 hours is a long time to stay on a train, especially when prime occupants are the elderly an children. Anyway we start here at the train station...

And I noticed this mural on the wall of the Train/Bus station in downtown N.O. Happens to be the same scene you can see in the movie "Shooting Gallery"....i wouldnt recommend it tho.

A friendly guide to help me escape from a fiery derailment!

Next is the New Orleans Arena. home to the Hornets...if they dont saty in oklahoma

And as we start makin it out of the station...the beautiful field of graves. If you dont know above ground graves are a new orleans thang an they are scattered all around the city.

Somehow we got up to lake Ponchatrane and the land side looked like it was straight from another era. canals and old buildings

Then we arrived in a Birmingham and I stepped off the train to take a stretch.

When I stepped off I met Tyree. One of only two friends I made the whole time. Dude was sweet we talked and I found out he was really digging the skull shirt I had on so I told him "whats your address, i'll mail you one". What a baller I am indeed, but in turn he hooked me up with some much needed train food. If it werent for him I probably would have starved...or maybe just spent my lifes savings on cinnamon buns.

The hookup.

We stopped in Atlanta and picked up some ATLiens, fortunetly this dude mark was pretty chill and we chatted about our differant lives.

Later we stopped again....smoke brake this time, ahhhh.

And just accross the way...some more art.

Must be a good omen eh. would explain the blood flowing down the walls.

Next morning. Probably have slept an hour total. But when i went for breakfast there was this sweet building! Apparently its a Mason building....about an hour away from D.C. because we all know they run the government.
